Trysmoon Book 3: Favorite Chapters
Thank you for tuning in to the third installment of the Trysmoon favorite chapters series. We have come to Book 3, where we find our heroes split up, hunted, and imprisoned. The Holy Child has been conceived, but the rest of the prophecy is in danger as the divide between the Chalaine and Chertanne grows ever deeper, despite Athan's machinations.
So, let's get right to it!

Chapter 58: The Bargain
There are two principal reasons this chapter is one of my favorites. The first is because the Chalaine finally begins to use her position to assert herself in the face of Athan's manipulations. It's a growth moment for her, and I also love imagining Mirelle going a little nuts on Athan. Any chapter where Athan or Chertanne gets stuffed is a satisfying one for me.
The second reason, of course, is because Jaron gets to kill Chertanne, and, really, can Chertanne die enough times? I don't think so. By this point in the story, I think the readers can really savor the Ha'Ulrich's demise, though I hope his sudden death was a surprise. His death throws the prophecy into turmoil. I'm guessing most readers figured this was a way to clear Chertanne out so Gen could step in, but...

Chapter 55: Ghama Dhron
This chapter contains several things that I found fun to write. First, Sir Tornus (whom we meet a couple of chapters before) is just a lot of fun. He's crazy, he's hungry, and he's always ready with a weird song or some brutally honest comment about how he's starving. Best of all, he's an ancient traitor who lives in an spooky, abandoned castle full of bones. I love to read the tense fight between Gen, whose lack of a soul prevents him from being devoured, and Sir Tornus, who seemingly cannot be stopped.
We also get to meet Ghama Dhron, the first of four Dhrons our heroes will encounter. This conglomeration of snakes is, of course, evil, but because of who Gen is they are bound to follow him. The snake-animated dwarf skeletons are something I can see quite clearly in my head. I wish I had the skill to sketch one out. Maybe the physics of such a creature wouldn't work out in real life, but hey, this is a fantasy book.
Until next time...
